In order to get all, if not most, of your security deposit back in Alberta, you must take the time to clean your apartment before you leave. Find your move-in inspection form, and make sure no other damage has been created. Fix the walls. Fill in any holes with hole filler, and sand the filler so it is flush with the wall. Clean off any scuffmarks on the walls, and repaint if necessary. Clean sinks, the stove, lights, cabinets, floors, countertops, everything in the bathrooms, and the closets. If a fireplace was provided, make sure that is clean as well. Remove all items from the apartment, and take pictures of cleaned place for reference. Finally, turn in your keys.
