The province of Manitoba is Canada's eastern-most prairie province, and features lakes that cover a vast portion of its area, including the 10th largest lake in the world, Lake Winnipeg. It also has the largest saltwater coastline in the country.
The majority of the population of the province lives in the capital city of Winnipeg, which has cold and windy winters, and hot and humid summers. The average winter temperature in the province is -21°C, while the average summer temperature is 20°C. The province is rich in history, as it was part of the region bought by Hudson's Bay Company for trading. Its seaport, that has access through the Arctic Ocean to Russia and China, provides an important agricultural trade route. Manitoba is also home to five Universities, as well as a major Canadian Forces Base.
Because of the diversity of Manitoba's landscape, there are many places to choose from when looking for an apartment, whether it be large, or small, downtown, or out in the suburbs, furnished, or unfurnished. However, keep in mind that many apartments are renting at a higher dollar because of the high cost of living that is currently found in the province. Unemployment is low in the province, so there are ample jobs available to assist in your monthly rent payments.
As with anywhere, take your time in searching for an apartment. Don't be tempted to sign a lease at the first place you see, because there are so many options available. Once you find your desired area, take a tour of each building in the area, and find out which one has the best deal for your desired elements. Often times you can even negotiate a better deal at your favorite apartment by showing them what others around them are offering you.
